Framed Beats is a specially curated exhibition hosted by Amsterdam Street Art (ASA) and ADE Beats with work by renowned rappers, beat makers, graffiti and street artists and others navigating both the music and the visual art world.
The exposition at the 5&33 Gallery opens it doors during Amsterdam Dance Event and will be celebrated on Thursday 19 & 20 October, 2017 with a free program on music, art and representation in the beautiful art’otel in Amsterdam.
During the celebratory opening of the Framed Beats exposition on Thursday October 19th in art’otel, ADE Beats will host a program with inspiring art talks. DJ and producer Waajeed from Detroit designed album covers for Slum Village and worked as photographer in the emerging Detroit hip-hop scene, and will discuss his Detroit hip-hop related visual art in a unique Q&A. Dutch hip-hop photographer Ilja Meefout discusses his work – including his artwork for that Wu-Tang album – and art curator Stephanie Afrifa discusses art and representation in her One Woman Museum.
On Friday October 20th the exhibition is free for al visitors of ADE and from 5pm until 9pm ASA and ADE Beats host drinks with:
- Dutch hip-hop DJ extraordinaire DJ Turne behind the decks
- Live painting with Ard Doko
- #Banksessies with Backstage Bastards
